Good afternoon Edgers!! Did you know there are only SEVEN DAYS until Christmas? It’s crazy! How did this happen so fast?
If you haven’t been joining us these last few weeks, we have been paying homage to Christmas by talking about a few different Christmas decorating ‘themes’. The first week was “Retro Christmas”, the second week was “Glam Christmas”, and this week is…..
Drum roll please….
A Rustic Christmas
Every year we gather for Christmas at my in-laws. We always go there Christmas mid-morning, have brunch, and then gather together in their living room, play games and open presents. Now, if you have ever been in their living room, there is one BIG unmistakable focal point. I bet you are wondering what it is, aren’t you? Well, it’s a big, huge, larger-than-life, takes up an entire wall, older than my husband’s life, stone FIREPLACE. And I LOVE IT!
There it is! The picture really doesn’t do the enormity justice. This fireplace, and the thought of gathering around it every year leaves me nostalgic in every way possible. That, my friends, is the reason why this decorating theme is my very favourite. Its nostalgic, its cozy and it reminds me of one of the places that I practically grew up in that leaves me with very fond (and funny) memories.
Here are some examples of what a Rustic Christmas elsewhere may look like…
Typically this tree tends to look like it may in its original habitat, with wild berries, pinecones, or even a bird nest or two. Wrap it in burlap, and its really rustic now!
Wasn’t that piano made into mantle such a brilliant idea? Like I’ve said before about mantles, if you don’t have a fireplace, your mantle ‘scene’ can be put anywhere that can house it (i.e. a piano, hutch, staircase, etc.)
{#3} The Wreath
Wanting to do something different from a wreath this year? Try a bunting instead!
{#4} The Centerpiece
Here are a few more ‘Rustic Christmas’ decor ideas for you…
Well my friends, that is all that we have for the Christmas decorating edition.
We wish you all the merriest, most wonderful and magical Christmas this year.
May it be spent with loved ones, laughing and making memories.
